Summer band camp twice weekly, Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Medford's Santos Center for middle school-age band students who play wind, string or percussion instruments.
Summer band camp at Medford's Santos Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 AM from July 8 through August 21 for middle school-age students who play wind, string or percussion instruments with at least one year's experience. A concert will be held at the conclusion of the program on Saturday, August 23. Students will practice and perform with senior musicians of the New Horizons Band allowing both an opportunity to improve their skills in a relaxed, fun environment. Parents are invited to join their kids in learning and performing music. Part time attendance is acceptable. The band will be conducted by Ivan Olinghouse, a recent graduate of the University of Oregon music program and Heather Tamiyama, an SOU music student. Cost is $50 per person, scholarships available for students with financal need.
