OLLI Class: Weather From A Window Seat

Monday, Nov 9 3:00p to 5:00p
at ScienceWorks Museum, Ashland, OR
Age Suitability: None Specified
Tags: There are no tags.

Weather from a Window Seat is an introduction to the interesting, beautiful and occasionally strange atmospheric phenomena as seen from aloft: overshooting thunderstorm tops, cirrus fall streaks, breaking waves, noctilucent clouds, contrails up close, lightning, Saint Elmo's fire, dust storms and more. Learning about these and many other sights will make your next flight much more interesting.
Peter Lester has been a meteorologist for over 50 years. With a Ph.D. in atmospheric science, he taught at the university for 30 years. His flying experience includes USAF weather reconnaissance and airborne meteorological studies for NSF. Even in retirement, whenever he flies, he always asks for a window seat.
