This course covers the basics of chaos theory as applied to both art and science including the concepts of iterative calculation. How to get a computer to do science fiction drawings and climate prediction? How are these related? How to get a computer to do something more exciting than typesetting? Recommended material: Encounters with Chaos by Denny Gulick.
David Blackman has degrees in both mathematics and chemistry. He worked at University of California Berkeley in the physics department before retiring.
